Possibility Is Not Direction
Generative tools are excellent at giving us more: more routes, more references, more polished variations. That abundance can feel like progress even when no meaningful decision has been made.
Direction begins somewhere else. It begins with an opinion about what matters, who the work is for and what it should refuse to become. A tool can accelerate an answer, but it cannot supply the conviction behind it.

Taste Is A System Of Decisions
Taste is often mistaken for decoration. In practice, it is a sequence of choices: what to keep, what to remove, when to stop and which inconsistency is worth protecting.
The strongest use of AI is not to outsource those choices. It is to make the field of possibilities wider, then apply sharper judgment to it.
The valuable question is no longer “Can we make this?” It is “Why should this version exist?”

The Human Part Gets More Visible
As production becomes easier, the intent behind the work becomes easier to see. Generic thinking no longer has technical difficulty to hide behind.
That is not a reason to fear the tool. It is a reason to build a clearer point of view before opening it.
